Migration, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, racism - the themes that documentary photographer Ad van Denderen captured in the period 1965-2019 are still relevant. The exhibition Ad van Denderen En Route highlights highlights from his career that spans almost six decades.
Van Denderen traveled a lot for his photos, both free and commissioned. But he also did not stand still figuratively. Van Denderen continued to search for new ways of making images. 'In an increasingly complex world, with changing views on photojournalism, I tried to move beyond social clichés with my photography. I was not looking for the latest news, but interested in the underlying processes and structures.' This resulted, among other things, in the internationally acclaimed series Go No Go, for which Van Denderen traveled along the edges of Europe over a period of fifteen years, where migrants tried to reach Western European countries with varying degrees of success.
