“Ukraine Contrast”
The war in Ukraine continues. We hear less and less about this in the media, and it seems to be becoming commonplace.
The war has been raging in Ukraine for years, a beautiful country that is dealing with Russian aggression. Landscapes are destroyed, houses, schools, hospitals and cultural objects are destroyed.
According to Putin, we have no language, no culture and no right to exist, and he has no intention of stopping this war. This means that more and more Ukrainians are forced to flee. More and more people are injured or killed. Many will never return because everything they had is gone. This also applies to many children who miss their home and country.
Despite all the misery, Ukrainians continue to fight for and defend their country. They will never give up and try to protect everything that is left, especially for the younger generations. Cultural heritage is an important part of this.
We, the Strong Through Art Foundation, together with Ukrainian photographers documenting the war, cordially invite you to see and discover Ukraine before and during the war. Unfortunately, we cannot reach all photographers, partly due to the war. That is why we are organizing a larger exhibition later this year. We call this preview exhibition “Ukraine Contrast”.
The proceeds from the sold photos go to the Strong Through Art Foundation, which supports, among others, the Ukrainian NGO Tabletochki. This children's fund has been helping Ukrainian children with cancer for more than 13 years. Help us help these children.
Together with the photos, we exhibit drawings by Ukrainian refugee children. These were made during the Christmas Art workshop in the Hofplein Youth Theater, under the guidance of Dutch and Ukrainian artists.
The children's drawings were photographed by Theo Huijgens and then printed on flags. These can be admired during the flag parade.
