Exactly 70 years ago, the much-loved sculpture 'The destroyed city' by Ossip Zadkine was unveiled in Rotterdam. Rozemarijn Wesetrink won the open call by the Dutch Embassy and Musée Zadkine in Paris. In her stop-motion animation figures move in a dreamlike environment in sometimes twisted poses, reminiscent of the arms in Zadkine’s sculpture. Westerink was inspired by Zadkine’s work, but also by the trees and plants in the garden museum, which is located in the house where Zadkine lived and worked.
